STILLWATER, Okla. The No. 4 Oklahoma State wrestling team posted a comfortable 30-6 win over Northern Iowa at Gallagher-Iba Arena Thursday night. With the win, the Cowboys improved to 11-2-1 on the year, while Northern Iowa fell to 6-11 in defeat. OSU racked up bonus points at 133 pounds, where Jordan Oliver pinned Joey Lazor at the 2:45 mark and at 174 pounds, 184 pounds and at 285 pounds, where Mike Benefiel, Clayton Foster and Jared Rosholt all claimed victories by major decision, respectively. Cowboy head coach John Smith started two backups at 141 pounds and at 149 pounds, where Tyler Shinn (a 4-0 loss to Charlie Ettleson at 141) and Jake Peck (a 6-2 loss to Trent Washington at 149) suffered OSUs lone two defeats of the dual. With the exception of Olivers pin at 133 pounds, the action for the Cowboys in the lower and middle weights was relatively slow, but things picked up during Alex Meades 8-4 win over David Bonin in the 165 pound match.
